Deven Parekh is known as a managing director for Insight Venture Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm. But Deven Parekh also serves as the board chairman of Publicolor. Publicolor is a non-profit venture that assists youngsters through the process of going into public schools and applying bright colored fresh paint to dress up dull and depressing look school rooms.

The main concept of Publicolor is the simple fact that  students’ surroundings are very important and additionally the fact that young people will feel better about themselves when their own surroundings are more desirable.

An important factor component of the approach is that the students within the the classroom themselves participate in the actual painting in the facility. Mr. Parekh thinks that the Publicolor process generates enthusiasm and pride of ownership in the immediate surroundings of each student. Deven Parekh feels that this sense of pride will continue to encourage these individuals to become better students.

The Publicolor system runs well beyond the applying of paint to the school facilities. After the painting draws to a close the program includes on-going support via club activities, coaching, life-skills training and additional courses work.
